Been a while

Well after a year, I haven't used this much. It's just hard to keep up on all this stuff...I use myspace and facebook as well.
What have I been up to? Well in short I spent the whole time being super busy with school and work, in which I was bumped up to Key Carrier which is low level management being in charge of the whole retail store, opening and closing and all that junk. In May I hurt my back and received crappy care from Workers Comp, and after them denying me care for several weeks [eventually 12 weeks total] my back was so bad one day I couldn't even get out of bed...and there I laid, in bed for many weeks, and even now, I can only sit/stand/be out of bed for a couple hours a day. So I am getting better but have been out of work and not able to do much since August. I am on Workers Comp now, and just had x-rays and a CT scan last week, and next week I will have an EMG nerve test...then most likely an epidural steroid injection and then off to back surgery at the humble age of 24.
All this time laying here has given me some perspective on life. My basic analysis is that I do not like my life and where it was going. Though even with these revelations I am still a materialistic self-centered person addicted to the ol' idiot box. Karl Marx said that Religion is the opiate of the masses but I tell you is it TV that is the true opiate of the masses...We want it, we crave it, we yearn for it...oh how it soothes us...releasing us from having to think, heaven forbid we think for ourselves...we will lock ourselves in our homes and be antisocial to get a fix of TV and eventually...it controls us...and we do exactly what it says...and we think exactly what it tells us to think...
My only redemption so far is to pick up a book every now and then...or to partake of a pipe or cigar while enjoying natures gift outdoors

Hey Johnny,

Sorry to hear about your back! I agree 100% with the T.V. You know, when I was nineteen I moved to Germany. T.V. channels costs a lot more there, so I didn't ever get it. Since being back in America, I also have never gotten it. All I have is a T.V., VCR and DVD player; no channels. I can tell you I haven't missed out on anything. Want to improve your life / mind / worldview / vocabulary / etc.? Read a book. I house-sat for my parents for three weeks a little while ago, and they've got the whole 999 channel set up. I was very frustrated one night, while my wife and I tried to find even ONE THING remotely worth watching. In the end? We popped in a movie that we both enjoy and watched that, ignoring all 999 channels of garbage and media advertisement.
